The text aims to identify environmental law trends in the comparative plan, with a particular note on the Portuguese situation within the frame of “climate crisis”. Four trends around the world are analyzed, such as energy transition policies, the emergence of cities as energy transition leaders, the formation of insurgent social movements and climate litigation. The balance is worrisome and the solution will confront the inertia of States and the resistance of companies, depending, at the end of the day, on the behavior of consumers.
