The study analyzes the prevention of conflict of interest in Brazil through cooling-off periods and monetary compensations, its reviews and possible improvement measures. Through literature search and analysis of the Brazilian normative framework and of other nations within OECD, it was possible to understand the national scenario regarding the theme, criticize and suggest improvements. The study revealed that is possible to enhance the system, in terms of transparency and legitimacy (with those involved and the population in general), as well as reduce costs, adapt deadlines, make some rules more flexible and give a greater focus on the inspections role.
