The present scientific article has as general objective to study the existing relationship between society and representatives of the people, since there is social apathy with the political class, which denotes a certain democratic depression and risk to the Constitutional State of Law, as idealized in contemporary times. In order to better organize the reasoning, the specific objective was centered on studying the role of the people in the State, the role of the representatives of the power and the contemporary democratic movement. The methodology used is inductive, using pre-existing concepts of State, Power and democracy. The conclusion, therefore, is that there is a social disinterest in politics is the result of the distancing of representatives of the people from ethics and morals, in view of the fact that political speeches and promises do not validate when they come to power.
