Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors are required to check the submission's compliance with all items listed below. Submissions that do not comply with the rules will be returned to the authors.

General Information

PGE-RJ's Electronic Journal is published four times per year. The journal is exercised by peer-review and editorial quality control. The review process takes approximately 8–16 weeks. Please be informed that expedited review is not available.

Submission Policy

Except in case of publication by invitation, articles submitted for evaluation must be unpublished, both in printed and digital format, as well as in Portuguese or in other languages. They should also not be in any evaluation process for publication in another journal. Failure to comply with these rules prevents the continuity of the editorial process.

PGE-RJ's Electronic Journal publishes only articles by up to 3 (three) authors, always observing the minimum degree of master, and preferably linked to a Postgraduate Program in Law (or similar areas). Master's works will only be published if they reach a level of excellence attested by the Journal's Editorial Board, respecting the other elective criteria. Articles whose authors are undergraduate students will not be accepted.

Submission Requirements

Language

PGE-RJ's Electronic Journal accepts submissions written in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. The Journal does not do translations or provide language services of any kind. Articles written in a foreign language must obey the same formatting rules used for Portuguese-language works. Before submitting a manuscript, authors whose native language is not Portuguese may want to get relevant editing assistance (grammar, spelling, and usage of language) from special language editing companies.

Length

Doctrine articles should preferably have 6,000 to 9,000 words, while those in the Atualidades section should have 2,000 to 6,000 words. Contributions to the journal must comply with all the formatting rules listed below, otherwise they will not be evaluated for publication.

Format

Authors should submit their manuscript in a Microsoft Word file (PDF files will not be accepted), considering the following format rules:

  • Page: A4 paper; left and top margins: 3,0 cm; right and bottom margins: 2.0 cm;
  • Paragraph: 2 cm indentation; justified alignment; 1,5 cm line spacing; 0,0 cm spacing before and after the paragraph;

Pages should not be numbered. Papers will not be accepted without the proper indication of title, abstract and keywords in two languages.

In each one, the following order will be observed: Surname - Comma - Author's first name (s) - Period - Book title in italics, only the first letter in capital letters - Period - City - Colon - Publisher - Comma - Year - Comma - Page - Period.

From the second reference to the same book, should be mentioned only the author's name, period, title reduced in italics, comma, cit., comma, and page can be spelled.

At the end of the article, an alphabetical list of all references cited in the paper must be reproduced, with space for one line between each entry.

For electronic sources, papers must follow the following guidelines:
